Why this exists
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to know what is held about you and by whom, to withdraw consent, and to have a grievance answered. Most verification companies satisfy that with an email address and a wait of several weeks.
That puts the most friction on the person with the least power in the transaction. This is the same thing, immediately, proved by nothing more than control of your own inbox.
Common questions
Do I need an account?
No. You prove the email address is yours with a one-time code, and that is all. Requiring the subject of a check to register an account before seeing their own data would be the wrong way round.
Will the person who checked me be told I looked?
No. Looking is not reported to anyone; it is written to our internal audit log, but the requester is not notified. If you withdraw consent or raise a concern, they are told that you did, because it changes what they can do with the request, but not what your concern says.
Can I see the results of the check?
No, and this is deliberate. You can see that a check was raised, who raised it, what purpose they stated, and what you agreed to. The findings belong to whoever commissioned the report. If you believe something about you is wrong, raise a concern from your record here: a named person reviews it and answers you in writing.
Can I have my data deleted?
Everything is deleted automatically 30 days after a request is raised, without you asking. To have it removed sooner, withdraw your consent from the record here: nothing further can be done with it, and the data goes on the next daily sweep. You do not have to give a reason.
What if someone checked me without my consent?
They cannot have. No data is retrieved until the subject signs a consent form, and that is enforced on our servers rather than by policy. If you see a record here you do not recognise, tell us and we will investigate it as an incident.
Someone entered my email by mistake. What happens?
Nothing, unless you consent. A request naming you with no consent expires on its own and the details are deleted. You can also decline it outright, which tells the requester and closes it immediately.
